Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of Lublin University of Technology organizes academic conferences dedicated to scholarly communication, open science, information management, and the development of knowledge infrastructure.
These events provide a platform for the exchange of experience among representatives of academic, publishing, and library communities. CINT acts as an organizer, host, and substantive partner and promotes the ideas of open access, reliable research data management, and high standards of scholarly publishing.
CINT staff also represent Lublin University of Technology at conferences organized by other institutions. They share knowledge and best practices in the areas of open publishing, metadata, resource accessibility, and digital transformation.

Event title: Open Science Development Strategies

Abstract:
The seminar from the series “Opening Science: Practice and Perspectives” was organized by the Consortium of Lublin Universities, represented by the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of Lublin University of Technology, the Main Library of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, the University Library and Publishing House of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the Main Library of the Medical University of Lublin, and the Main Library of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, in cooperation with Elsevier. The event partner was PCG Academia.
The seminar focused on strategies to increase the engagement of the academic community and to foster a culture of open science—through the practical implementation of its principles, research data management, including ensuring data security and long-term preservation. It also addressed the development of human potential in the field of open science, including the role of data stewards and open science ambassadors, as well as the new competencies required from specialists such as data librarians and data stewards. An important aspect was also the analysis of national and international policies and initiatives supporting open science, as well as embedding artificial intelligence development strategies within this framework.
Event title: Objects of Knowledge: University Museum Collections as Educational Tools

Abstract:
The conference was organized by the Association of University Museums in cooperation with the Museum of the Lublin University of Technology. It brought together representatives from several dozen academic museums across Poland, who discussed, among other topics, the role of museum collections as carriers of knowledge, educational tools, and builders of academic identity.
Over three days (18 hours of sessions, more than 50 presentations, and a poster session), participants engaged in discussions on inclusivity and the museum’s relationship with the local community, and showcased best practices such as digitizing collections, creating interactive exhibits, and fostering collaboration between museums, archives, and libraries. The programme also included visits to the Museum of Lublin University of Technology and the UMCS Zoological Museum, panels on university education centers, and a concert of Jewish music.
Event title: Bibliographic Databases: Future-Oriented Approaches
Date and venue: 26–27 September 2024, Lublin
Abstract:
The conference was organized by the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of Lublin University of Technology. It brought together representatives of technical universities, scientific journal editors, database creators and users, and information science specialists. The event provided a platform for discussing the future of subject-specific databases, including BazTech – one of the key indexing platforms for journals in technical, exact, and environmental sciences. Topics included standards for creating and sharing metadata, integrating databases with university repositories, scientific search engines, and external data-aggregating systems, as well as the potential use of artificial intelligence in automation of information processes.
A significant part of the programme was devoted to legal aspects, particularly copyright and licensing of scientific content in the context of open access. Another key element was the discussion panel titled “Collaboration in Relationships: Publisher – Editorial Office – Subject Databases – Aggregating Services”, moderated by mgr Stanisława Pietrzyk-Leonowicz, coordinator of the BazTech Consortium. The panel was attended by representatives of the academic community, publishing houses, and research administration.
The conference was funded under the “Excellent Science II” programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
