Off-Campus Access to Databases

Centre of Scientific and Technical Information  provides  LUT staff and students  with access to licensed databases and electronic journals from computers located outside the university network.

To use the databases from home, you must properly configure your web browser and enter your username and password (the same which are used in the library catalogue).

 Mozilla Firefox

1. Open the web browser.
2. Select Tools > Settings from the menu
3. Choose General on the left
4. Scroll down to the Network Settings section (at the bottom of the page) and click
5. Select Automatic proxy configuration URL and enter the proxy server address: http://proxy.pollub.pl/proxy.pac
6. Confirm by clicking OK on this and the next screen.
7. Go to the website of the database you want to access.
8. In the sign-in window, enter your username and password (the same which are used in the library catalogue).

 Google Chrome

1. Open the web browser.
2. Open the menu and select Settings.
3. From the left-hand menu, choose System.
4. Select Open your computer’s proxy settings.
5. In the window that opens, turn on Use setup script.
6. In the Script address field, enter: http://proxy.pollub.pl/proxy.pac
7. Confirm by clicking Save.
8. Go to the website of the database you want to access.
9. In the sign-in window, enter your username and password (the same which are used in the library catalogue).

  Opera/Opera GX

1. Open the web browser.
2. Open the menu and select Settings.
3. Select Browser, from the menu
4. Find the System section and click Open your computer’s proxy settings.
5. In the window that opens, turn on Use setup script.
6. In the Script address field, enter: http://proxy.pollub.pl/proxy.pac
7. Confirm by clicking Save.
8. Go to the website of the database you want to access.
9. In the sign-in window, enter your username and password (the same which are used in the library catalogue).

Microsoft Edge

1. Open the web browser.
2. Open the menu and select Settings.
3. From the left-hand menu, choose System and performance, then select Proxy settings.
4. Click Open your computer’s proxy settings.
5. In the window that opens, turn on Use setup script.
6. In the Script address field, enter: http://proxy.pollub.pl/proxy.pac
7. Confirm by clicking Save.
8. Go to the website of the database you want to access.
9. In the sign-in window, enter your username and password (the same which are used in the library catalogue).
