LUT Publishing House

LUT Publishing House is responsible for publishing monographs, textbooks, journals, scripts, and occasional publications of LUT staff.

The Publishing House is a unit of the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information. It was established within the structure of  LUT Library in 2010 under the name of the Centre of Publishing and Digital Library, which from the very beginning of its activity focused on publishing materials in open access. In 2019, the Centre was transformed into LUT Publishing House.

LUT Publishing House, in cooperation with the Scientific Council, takes care of the transparency of the peer-review process and adherence to ethical standards in publishing. It is also particularly important to us to ensure the maintenance of high editorial standards and to adapt works to meet accessibility requirements.

Since February 2025, electronic versions of books published by LUT Publishing House have been made available in the institutional Repository of Open Collections and Knowledge (ROCK) (previously available in LUT Digital Library). All publications of  LUT Publishing House are made available online under Creative Commons licences. In the case of books (scientific monographs, textbooks, and others), CC BY-SA 4.0 licence is applied, while for journals, starting from 2024, CC BY 4.0 licence.

Our books are also available for purchase in printed form via the online bookstore at: https://wpl.pollub.pl/.

The editorial process of the majority of journals published or co-published by Lublin University of Technology is carried out in OJS system on Lublin University of Technology Publishing House (LUT PH) platform. Initially, the platform hosted such titles as Budownictwo i Architektura (Civil and Architectural Engineering), Informatyka, Automatyka. Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska (IAPGOŚ) (Informatics, Control, Measurement in Economy and Environmental Protection), Journal of  Technology and Exploitation in Mechanical Engineering (JTEME), Teka Komisji Architektury, Urbanistyki i Studiów Krajobrazowych (Teka Commission of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Studies), Ochrona Dziedzictwa Kulturowego (ODK) (Protection of Cultural Heritage), and Journal of Computer Sciences Institute (JCSI). Over the years, additional journals joined the platform: Applied Computer Science (ACS) in 2022, and Problemy Ekorozwoju  (Problems of Sustainable Development) as well as Technika Lotnicza i Astronautyczna (Aviation and Space Technology) in 2023.

The implementation of Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform—an online content management tool that has become an alternative to the traditional publishing model—took place in 2019 as part of promoting openness of LUT Publishing House publications. OJS enables comprehensive management of the journals’ publishing process, from the submission of texts by authors, through peer review, to online publication. It also offers additional functionalities, such as integration with databases, data export to DOAJ, indexing in Google Scholar, and RSS notifications.

All LUT PH journals, from the beginning of their operation until the end of 2023, made articles available under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) licence. Since January 2024, all journals have adopted the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0 International) licence. The journals that have been fully open access from the outset and publishing under this licence, are Applied Computer Science (ACS) and Journal of Technology and Exploitation in Mechanical Engineering (JTEME).

All of the mentioned activities have had a significant impact on the academic community. They increased awareness concerning benefits of the dissemination of research output in Open Access model, which ensures free and immediate access to publications.
